In the age of misinformation and citizen sleuths, it is not hard to understand how one could become so easily intertwined with conspiracy thinking after such disillusionment. From chemtrails and extraterrestrials to alternative archaeology and pandemic conspiracies, GIMME TRUTH ventures into the ever-expanding landscape of contemporary belief by exploring the human appeal and social consequences of such reasoning.

Rather than ridicule or endorse their film's subjects, directors Brad Abrahams and Simon Ennis approach conspiracy culture with curiosity and empathy, following individuals whose search for hidden truths has become central to their identities. As their participants pursue enlightenment, certainty, and community beyond the boundaries of mainstream institutions, the film asks what happens when personal conviction begins to outweigh shared evidence, and when these beliefs become more than just theories.

The documentary never tries to prove or debunk any of these theories, but rather tries to understand how they can become a source of purpose or a framework through which one tries to make sense of an increasingly fragmented world. By turns surprising, unsettling, darkly humorous, and unexpectedly compassionate, GIMME TRUTH offers a nuanced portrait of a society struggling to agree on what is real, serving as a deep analysis of what it means when the search for truth becomes a way of life.
